A Chicago newspaper on the tax evasion case of Al Capone...
Item # 678511
October 17, 1931
CHICAGO DAILY TRIBUNE, Oct. 17, 1931
* Gangster Al 'Scarface' Capone
* Day of the guilty verdict
* Infamous tax evasion trial
* Best title to be had - very rare
The front page has a one column heading: "FATE OF CAPONE WILL REST WITH THE JURY TODAY" with subhead and small photo of the leading prosecutor. Coverage continues on page 8. Capone would be found guilty on this very day.
Although "Scareface" Al Capone was involved in many criminal activities, it was tax evasion which ultimately put him behind bars. He would receive the guilty verdict the following day. Terrific to have this report in a Chicago newspaper. Very rare as such.
The complete 30 page newspaper and this is the "rag edition" printed on very high quality newsprint meant for institutional holdings. Nice condition as such, 4 small binding holes at the blank spine.
