1901 Cloverport, Kentucky fire disaster...
Item # 678330
March 14, 1901
THE EVENING TRIBUNE, San Diego, March 14, 1901
* Cloverport, Kentucky
* Breckinridge County
* Fire - conflagration
The top of the front page has a one column heading: "A TOWN DESTROYED" with subheads. (see) Surprisingly this issue is in good condition being from the "wood pulp" era. Very hard to find issues that are not totally fragile from this era in paper.
Complete with 8 pages, small library stamps within the masthead, a few small binding holes along the spine, generally very nice.
wikipedia notes: On March 13, 1901 a fire swept through the city leaving about half of the residents homeless and destroying almost all of the business buildings, including two full American Tobacco Company warehouses.
