FITCHBURG SENTINEL, Mass., Dec. 7, 1957

* Vanguard TV3 embarrassment
* America's 1st attempt to launch satellite

A report on the front page has coverage on the embarrassing entry of the United States in the space race with the Soviet Union, with a three column headline: "U.S. Satellite Program Criticized, Defended In Wake Of Explosion" with subheads and a few related photos.
This monumental failure of America's first attempt at space came just 2 months after the Soviets shocked the world with its successful Sputnik I launch, taking the lead in the space race.
Complete with all 12 pages, light toning at the margins, nice condition.
