August 08, 1782

THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Aug. 8, 1782  The ftpg. has a report carrying over to pg. 2 concerning military action near Savannah, signed in type by: Anthony Wayne, Commanding in Georgia.
Nearly half of page 2 has more content on the latest events in the war & the situation with the Loyalists. Also a letter from Phila. mentions: "We now give up all hopes of a peace at present for  the Congress seem determined to carry on the war & to drive the British forces, if possible, out of every part of America...for Washington has now a powerful army & troops are raising in every colony..." with more.
Another page has a letter from Salem: "...that they are building there several ships of war of considerable force & are doing the same in every American port, it being agreed by the Congress that every colony shall fit out for sea three line of battle ships in two years..." with a bit more.
The bkpg. has a report from London: "...that Mr. Adams, the American Agent there, has received fresh orders from the Congress not to enter into a negociation for a peace with England, but in concert with the rest of the powers at war, & then only on their independency being acknowledged...".
Eight pages, never bound nor trimmed, 6 by 9 inches, nice condition.
