Item # 664241
March 26, 1921
BOSTON EVENING TRANSCRIPT, March 26, 1921
* Chicago Black Sox World Series scandal
* Indictments against White Sox players
One of the sports pages inside has an article near the bottom with one column heads: "Baseball Scandal Up Again" "Eighteen Men Indicted by Chicago Grand Jury, Including Five Not Previously Mentioned".
A very notable report.
The article names all men indicted, and includes: "...Other men reindicted were: Eddie Cicotte, pitcher, who confessed to receiving $10,000 to 'throw' games; Claude Williams, pitcher, who confessed to receiving $5000; Joe Jackson, outfielder, who confessed to receiving $5000..." and more.
The complete issue in 60 pages, leaves are loose at the spine, and irregular at the spine as well. A bit fragile & should be handled carefully.
