Within are several articles concerning the Texas war for independence. "Letter from the War Department" is concerning Indian tribes and is quite lengthy & detailed. A report headed: "News From Texas" mentions: "...volunteers are returning from Texas...they have found any thing else there than food for a frolic & report very discouragingly of the inhabitants of the country. In the camp at San Antonio the troops had been entirely out of bread-stuff some days before our informant left..." and more.
Another report mentions: "...Col. Bowie had gone amongst the Camanche Indians to have a talk & he will endeavor to keep them quiet." and "On the 4th of March the Texian declaration of independence was to be made at San Felippe & the provisional government under the new order of things instituted."
Much content in the Seminole War as well, and reporting on events in Texas just a few days before the historic battle of the Alamo near San Antonio.
Twenty-four pages, 6 1/4 by 9 1/2 inches, nice condition.
