NEW YORK WORLD TELEGRAM, April 24, 1941
* Phil Rizzuto - New York Yankees
* Very 1st MLB baseball home run
* Game announcer - "Holy Cow!" fame
The sport's section (page 28) has a two column heading: "Homers?Phil Can Hit 'Em" with subhead: "Rizzuto's 11th Inning Drive to Beat Red Sox Proves Small Yank Power" (see) First report coverage on Yankee legend Phil Rizzuto hitting his very 1st MLB home run. He would only hit 38 in his career. Great to have in this uncommon New York City publication. Rare as such.
Complete with all 38 pages, light toning at the margins, small library stamp within the masthead, small binding holes along the spine, generally nice.
