AURORA GENERAL ADVERTISER, Philadelphia, Jan. 2, 1795 The top of page 3 has: "By the President Of the United States of America - A Proclamation" recommending: "...to all Religious societies & denominations...to set apart & observe Thursday the 19th day of February next as a day of Public Thanksgiving and Prayer...and render their sincere & hearty thanks to the Great Ruler of Nations for the manifold & signal mercies which distinguish our lot as a Nation..." with more, including reference to the recent Whiskey Rebellion. It is signed in type: G. Washington.
