CHICAGO DAILY TRIBUNE, May 28, 1928

* Airship Italia - Umberto Nobile
* North Pole - polar flight

The front page has a a great banner headline: "NOBILE IN DISTRESS; NEW SOS" with subheads. (see) Nice for display. A few related photos are on the back page.
Complete with all 38 pages, this is the "rag edition" printed on very high quality newsprint meant for institutional holdings. In great condition as such.

wikipedia notes: The airship Italia passed over the North Pole at midnight. The Italian tricolor and an oaken cross gifted to Umberto Nobile by the pope were dropped onto the Pole, but Nobile deemed it too risky to attempt a landing because the airship was weighed down with ice and the radio had broken down, so the Italia turned back.
