This is one of the best newspapers to have announcing Ted Williams ending the baseball season above .400, the last major league to do so. The sports page actually has two items noting the achievement, one headed: "Williams Closes At .4057 Figure" with the article beginning: "Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox, has become the first American Leaguer to hit .400 for a season since 1923..." with more (see). On the same page is a column headed: "Baseball Stars" which begins with: "Ted Williams, Red Sox--Got six hits, including homer, in eight trips to plate, as Sox split twin bill with Athletics, to finish with .4057 batting mark." (see)
Being a Boston newspaper, this newspaper would rank among the most desirable to have this content. This is the complete 14 page newspaper and is in excellent condition.
