April 08, 1865
NEW YORK DAILY TRIBUNE, April 8, 1865
* General Robert E. Lee's surrender (day of)
* Appomattox Court House signing (eve)
The front page has a nice war map headed: "THE CAMPAIGN IN VIRGINIA" showing the area of Paineville, Amelia Court House, Henderson, Jennings, & more.
Some great & historic front page reporting with first column heads: "VIRGINIA!" "Our Armies Again Victorious!" "General Sheridan Fights a Battle Near Burkesville" "Prospects Of Lee's Surrender" "Rapid Marching of the Union Forces" "The Occupation of Richmond" and more.
This is actually the very day that Lee would surrender to Grant at Appomattox Court House, which would be reported in newspapers of the following days.
Twelve pages, never bound nor trimmed, central fold has some dirtiness with crease, generally nice..
