FORT UNION, New Mexico, Civil War document dated March 4, 1865.
An interesting letter with printed heading at top: "Depot Commissary Office, Fort Union, N.M." written to Captain W. H. Bill, Chief Com. of Substec., Santa Fe, N.M. It reads:
"Sir,
I have the honor to transmit herewith the following papers pertaining to duty in the Subsistence Department at Depot Fort Union N.M., during the month of February, 1865, viz:
Return of Provisions
Return of Comms'y. Property
Account Current
Abstract of Contingencies
Very respectfully

Capt.. C.S. Vols.
Docketing information on the reverse (see photos).
Single sheet on lined paper, 8 by 10 inches, very nice condition.
