GENTLEMAN'S MAGAZINE, London, February, 1764 Among the articles within are: "Curious Observations relative to the ensuing Solar Eclipse" with a corresponding full page plate of the solar eclipse which includes a map of England and the northwest portion of France.
Another article has: "An Historical Account of the Canaries" being the Canary Islands.
Near the back is the "Historical Chronicle" which includes over half a column headed: "America" with reports datelined from Philadelphia and New York, one item beginning: "The Indians under the command of Pontiac at Detroit..." and other reports concerning Indian troubles.
Other articles include: "Of Fattening Cattle with Carrots" "Directions to Search for Coal Mines" "An Effectual Method to Destroy Rats" "Account of the late Transactions at Bengal"  "Description of the County of Bedford" and "Observations on Tasso's Jerusalem".
Complete in 50 pages, 5 1/2 by 8 3/4 inches with wide, never-trimmed margins, very nice condition.. Includes the full title/contents page featuring an engraving of St. John's Gate.

A very nice magazine from just after the French & Indian War from the "mother country" with a wide range of varied content. This was the first periodical to use the word "magazine" in its title, having begun in 1731 and lasting until 1907.
