President Madison signs a Proclamation...

THE WEEKLY REGISTER, Baltimore, July 18, 1812 The front page page of this issue contains "A Proclamation" from the president for "...a day of public humiliation and prayer:.. to offer, at one and the same time, their common vows, and adorations to Almighty God... of seeking his merciful forgiveness, and his assistance... that in the present season of calamity and war... care and protection... hasten a restoration of the blessings of peace."  This is signed in type: JAMES MADISON.
Also within are: "North-Carolina" "Paul Jones" "We are at War"; "Military Notices" and more.
Sixteen pages, 6 1/4 by 9 3/4 inches, scattered foxing.

As noted in Wikipedia, this title: "...(was) one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States...Devoted primarily to politics...considered an important source for the history of the period."
