LOUIS GLOBE-DEMOCRAT, Nov. 4, 1883 Likely due to its location on the edge of the Western frontier, this newspaper typically contained a wealth sensational crime reports and events from the West, much more than any found in eastern newspapers. Page 6 has: "Reported Train Robbery In Illinois" provides some details, including: "...a most daring robbery took place...four men...with drawn revolvers, ordered the passengers to hand out their money & valuables..." with more (see).
