THE NEW YORK TIMES, July 1, 1938

* Baker Bowl last game
* Philadelphia Phillies
* MLB baseball

The sport's section (page 14) has a two column heading: "Giants Crush Phils" with subheads that include: "NINE RUNS IN THIRD ROUT PHILLIES, 14-1" and more. (see) Though not mentioned, this was the very last MLB game ever played at the 51-year old Baker Bowl in Philadelphia, PA. The Phillies team decided after the game to move down the street to rent the newer Shibe Park Stadium off the Athletics. Always nice to have notable events in history reported in this World famous publication.
Other news, sports and advertisements of the day. Complete in 40 pages, with a high percentage of cotton & linen content, allowing the issues to remain very white & sturdy into the present. Given the subscription cost, libraries & institutions rather than individuals were the primary subscribers of these high-quality editions. Nice condition.
