THE WAR, New York, Dec. 5, 1812

* Printed exclusively to report on the War of 1812

Among the articles are: "N.W. Army" datelined at "H. Quarters, Franklinton" being "General Orders" signed by: Nathl. F. Adams; "Indian Depredations" in the Indiana Territory; "General Orders" from Champlain; "General Smyth" which takes over one-third of a page and begins: "Companions in Arms! The time is at hand when you will cross the stream of Niagara to conquer Canada & secure the peace of the American frontier..." "General Orders" signed by: T.H. Cushing; and more.
Four pages, 9 3/4 by 12 1/4 in., never-trimmed margins, very nice, clean condition.

This is a fascinating, short-lived newspaper, having begun in 1812 with the exclusive purpose of reporting on the War of 1812 (hence the title). When the war ended, so did this newspaper.
