April 16, 1864

THE NEW YORK HERALD, April 16, 1864  The front page has two one column maps in the bottom half of the front page, captioned: "The Position of Fort Pillow on the Mississippi" and "Diagram of the Fort". The front page also has some nice column heads on the battle, including: "Capture of Fort Pillow by the Rebels" "Reported Massacre of the White and Black Troops" "Women & Children Murdered in Cold Blood" "The Dead & Wounded Negroes Burned" with other war-related reports as well.
Eight pages, a bit irregular at the spine margin, generally nice.
