ESSEX REGISTER, Salem, Mass., Feb. 17, 1813 Taking all of the front page & a bit of pg. 2 is: "Mr. Clay's Speech on the New Army Bill..." continued in a future issue. Page 2 has: "Gen. Winchester Defeated and Slain" "Horrid Disaster!" which is quite3 detailed, and includes another report prefaced with: "This melancholy account is confirmed by a letter form Gen. Harrison himself to Gov. Meigs of Ohio..." (see).
Page 3 begins: "Brilliant Naval Victory!" which is a nice account of the Constitution vs. the Java off the coast of Brazil. Two follows-up reports as well, one beginning: "Com. Bainbridge was wounded but has recovered...".
Four pages, very nice condition.
