* William Francis Kemmler
* 1st electric chair execution (pre)

Front page coverage on William Kemmler, who had the dubious distinction of being the first person to die by the electric chair. One column headings: "Kemmler's Fate" "His Execution To Take Place Nex Week" and more. (see) He would be executed four days later. Nice to have in a Philadelphia paper, his hometown.
Other news of the day. Complete in 8 pages, large issue measuring 29 x 21 inches, a little spine and fold wear, generally good. Should be handled with care.
