TWIN VALLEY LOCOMOTIVE, Germantown, Ohio, June 1, 1854

* Frederick Douglass quote
* Fugitive slave case
* Rare title

A quite rare title as Gregory (Union List of American Newspapers) notes that no institution has any holdings of this title. The front page has: "Destiny of Slavery". A short bit notes: "Fred. Douglas, in a speech referring to the recent agitation of the slavery question...said: 'I recognize my good friend & namesake, Stephen A. Douglas, as a great instrument in the hands of God to promote his wise ends..." (see).
Inside has: "Manifest Destiny"; an article headed: "More Gold Discoveries in New Mexico (see); "Arrest of a Fugitive Slave at Boston--Attempt at Rescue" concerns the famous case of Anthony Burns (see hyperlink).
Four pages, handsome masthead, small wear hold at a fold juncture, bit irregular at the blank spine.
