NILES' NATIONAL REGISTER, Baltimore, Maryland, January 16, 1847  The front page reports "Colt's Patent Revolving Pistols". "Capt. Walker left this city yesterday for Washington, having, while in N. York, among other things, made a contract for 1,000 revolving pistols for the new mounted rifle regiment, which is to serve in Mexico...". This purchase would kick off Samuel Colt's fame.
Within the issue is nearly three pages of coverage on the "War with Mexico" which include reports on Santa Anna.
The back page reports "The Reported Advance of Santa Anna on Saltillo Contradicted" as well as "Santa Anna Elected President of Mexico".
This is complete in 16 pages and is in very good condition.

This small size newspaper began in 1811 and was a prime source for national political news of the first half of the 19th century. As noted in Wikipedia: "Niles edited and published the Weekly Register until 1836, making it into one of the most widely-circulated magazines in the United States and himself into one of the most influential journalists of his day. Devoted primarily to politics, Niles' Weekly Register is considered an important source for the history of the period."
