ST. LOUIS GLOBE-DEMOCRAT, Missouri, July 25, 1881

* Rare Billy The Kid article
* William H. Bonney - Henry Antrim

Page 2 has 1 1/2 columns concerning the life, death, and exploits of the infamous Billy the Kid. Much of the text is taken up with a fascinating report of a "Mr. Duncan" who was befriended by Billy the Kid, was cared for by him, and who become one of Billy the Kid's confidants. It begins by talking of the "castle" in which he found Billy the Kid (see). The end of this report--taking over a full column-- mentions that Mr. Duncan: "...in the first town the surveying party stopped my informant saw a notice posted up offering $500 reward for 'Billy the Kid', dead or alive...The man who had slept at Billy's ranch would rather have cut off his right hand than betray him, even could he have done so." (see)
This is followed by another report headed: "Claiming Billy the Kid" which was taken from the New York Sun, in which claims are made that he came from New York City and with some comments on his early life of crime (see).
An uncommonly lengthy account of Billy the Kid from less than two weeks after his death. Eight pages, minor margin wear, generally nice condition.
