As noted in the masthead this was the: "Gazette of The Regular & Volunteer Forces" and as such is replete with military news of all sorts. The entire front page is taken up with: "The Military Situation" giving reports from various fields of operation, carrying over to take all of pg. 2.
Other items in this issue include: "A New Iron-Clad" "Standing Armies" "Army Order & Instructions" "Motives In War" "General Sherman & the Louisiana Legislature" "Army & Navy Personal" "Military Government of the South" which includes various dispatches signed in type by General Schofield, J.E. Johnston, General W. T. Sherman, & General Halleck. Also: "The Breaking Up of the Army"  and a report begins: "The hard chase after Davis & his Cabinet still continues & both pursuers and pursued are now in Georgia...". Also near the back is an "Order by the President" "The Assassination of Mr. Lincoln" signed in type: Andrew Johnson. (see). Much more also.
Sixteen pages, 10 by 14 1/2 inches, nice eagle in the masthead, various foxing, generally nice.
