THE LIBERATOR, Boston, January 16, 1863 This issue has a wealth of great content no the Emancipation Proclamation, just recently enacted by President Lincoln. Also on the ftpg: "Thanksgiving Among the Contrabands at Washington" and "Great Emancipation Demonstration".
Inside pages have much, including: "Emancipation Day In South Carolina" "The Proclamation" which is an address signed in type by: Wm. Lloyd Garrison, and beginning: "Resolved, that this Committee heartily unite in the general joy and thanksgiving expressed in view of the emancipation of three millions of slaves in the revolted states..." (see). Also: "What Will Be Done by the Proclamation?" and "The President's Message". The bkpg. has: "Emancipation Day In Boston" and "Emancipation Meeting" & "Rejoicing on the First of January".
Four pages, ornate masthead showing slaves being sold, then slaves being set free (see). A bit of foxing, very nice condition.
