* John Jay letter

The front page has over 2 columns taken up with the conclusion of the Constitution of Kentucky. Page 3 has a letter: "To John Jay, Chief Justice of the United States" welcoming him to Lansingburgh, followed by his reply signed in type: John Jay. Rare to find period letters from the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Also a report concerning celebration of the 4th of July (see), and a "$24 Dollars Reward" for a runaway Negro woman, with details (see).
Four pages, nice condition.
