Other news, sports and advertisements of the day throughout. Minor margin wear, otherwise nice condition.

wikipedia notes: The 1944 Rose Bowl, played on January 1, 1944, was an American college football bowl game. It was the 30th Rose Bowl Game. The USC Trojans defeated the Washington Huskies 29-0. The game featured two teams from the west coast due to the travel restrictions imposed by the war effort.[1] USC quarterback Jim Hardy threw three touchdown passes to lead the Trojans. The victory was the Trojan's seventh Rose Bowl victory and also gave them the Pacific Coast Conference title.[2] For the first time, the Rose Bowl was broadcast abroad to all United States military members, with General Eisenhower allowing all troops not in firing lines to tune in.
