DETROIT FREE PRESS, Detroit, Michigan, August 17, 1965 This issue features two (2) front pages with the second front page carrying a four column-wide headline "'The Thing' Haunts Monroe - Monster Days Are Here Again" which reports "of something 'not human' living in the nearby woods". This also features a photo of a young lady who had received a blackened eye from where the beast had hit her.
