THE MICHIGAN ARGUS, Ann Arbor, Michigan, Sept. 7, 1860

* Stephen A. Douglas

We rarely find Michigan newspapers from before the Civil War. The front page has two column on: "Mr. Douglas In The South - His Reception & Speech at Norfolk, Va." beginning: "The Little Giant arrived here on yesterday. His reception was most enthusiastic...", and page 2 has a political notice supporting: "For President, STEPHEN A. DOUGLAS of Illinois..." (see photos). Also on pg. 2 is a report of various news items headed: "Arrival of the Pony Express" with a St. Joseph, Mo. dateline (see photos).
Four pages, minor loss at the top margin affects just a few letters, generally good.
