NEW YORK TRIBUNE, October 3, 1911 The front page of this issue has a column wide headline "Austin's Death List May Not Exceed 100" with subheads "State Health Commissioner's Census, Almost Complete, Show 86 Missing", "Disaster Inquiry Delayed", "Relief Work Being Pushed, but Many More Men Are Needed To Remove Hundreds of Tons of Debris". This refers to the fifty-foot high by thirty-foot wide concrete dam which broke on September 30th and destroyed the town of Austin, Pennsylvania. A front page large photo shows the broken dam and a photo of the destroyed town is shown inside. Additional articles on Austin are within.
