DAILY RICHMOND EXAMINER, Richmond, Virginia, Feb. 26, 1862 A nice newspaper from the capital of the Confederate States with the entire front page taken up with various advertisements and notices.
The content of primary interest is the: "Message of the President--To the Senate & House of Representatives of the Confederate States" which is signed in type: Jefferson Davis, in which he offers some great thoughts on the Civil War (see for portions). Page 2 has the editorial beginning: "The President's Message is a manly and dignified document but like the inaugural, is contains not a solitary word indicating the plan or policy of the government..." with much more (see for beginning).
Also on the inside pages are items headed: "The True Story of the Battle & Fall of Fort Donelson" "News From the West" "The Right Spirit" "The Upper Potomac" "the Enemy in Western Virginia--Formidable Preparations" "Movements & Spirit of the War" and more.
