November 02, 1812
CONNECTICUT MIRROR, Hartford, Nov. 2, 1812
* War of 1812 original reading
* Battle of Queenston
* Governor Roger Griswold death
* Proclamation for "gratitude... to Almighty God"
All four pages have all columns black bordered due to the death of the governor, as reported on page 3: "Death of Governor Griswold". Being from the War of 1812 there is good war reporting as well with page 2: "Battle of Queenston" (Ontario) which was the first major battle of the war. Other items also.
Page 3 also has a lengthy Proclamation for "gratitude... thanksgiving and praise... to Almighty God...", signed, John Cotton Smith, the lieutenant governor of Connecticut.
The ftpg. and bkpg. are entirely taken up with ads. Four pages, excellent condition. A dramatic issue with the wide mourning rules throughout.
