Famous German colony established in Missouri...

NEW YORK HERALD, from New York, dated June 23, 1845 Page 2 has a report from a St. Louis paper that says: "The steamer Bridgewater arrived last evening, from the Ohio, with 236 immigrants, from...western...Pennsylvania. This is the third trip...this season...bringing about the same number; they are of German origin, and are about to settle near Hannibal...where a colony has been formed, which...will be peopled by over 2,000 of this class. They bring all their household furniture, farming utensils, &c. with them."
Note: This is the famous Bethel German colony founded by Dr. Wilhelm Keil in 1844. The town of Bethel was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1970.
This is complete in 8 pages measuring approximately 15.5 x 22 inches and is in very good condition.
