January 27, 1846
FLORIDA SENTINEL, Tallahassee, Florida, Jan. 27, 1846 A very early newspaper from the capital of Florida, and with a nice engraving in the masthead. This newspaper is formatted much like most newspapers of the day, being complete in four pages with various local and national news reports in addition to many advertisements. This issue is among the very last two issues we have in our inventory.
About half of the ftpg. is taken up with political reports from Washington. Also on the ftpg. is: "Origin of Native Americanism". Among the items on the inside are: "Revolution in Mexico" taking over a full column; "An Act Concerning Roads & Highways" in Florida; "The Cuba Resolutions Again" "South Florida Sugar Cane" and more. Many ads as well, with the entire bkpg. taken up with ads.
Very early for Florida from the year after it became a state. Complete in 4 pages, some archival mends to the inside, never bound nor trimmed, some raggedness at the right margin not affecting any text.
Category: Pre-Civil War
