September 15, 1768
PENNSYLVANIA GAZETTE, Philadelphia, Sept. 15, 1768 Page 2 has a letter taking over a full column, with mention of the Stamp Act plus other tidbits relating to the troubled relations between England & America (see the photos). Page 2 has the list of resolves from New York concerning non-importation, until the Townshend Acts are repealed (quite historic). Also, the Resolve of the New York tradesmen mentions not doing business with merchants who do not support non-importation.
This four page issue also includes the single sheet "Postscript" as well, with most of the ftpg. taken up with a report headed: "Whereas, by an act of parliament lately passed to enable us to put the customs & other duties in the British dominions in America & the execution of the laws relating to trade there..." with more (see photos for the beginning).
The four page regular issue is in very nice, clean condition & features an engraving of a coat-of-arms in the masthead. The single sheet Postscript issue is close-trimmed at the top causing partial loss to the heading & some of the top line ads on its reverse.
The Pennsylvania Gazette was owned & published by Ben Franklin from 1728 thru 1765, sold to his partner David Hall who published this issue, along with his new partner William Sellers (imprint at the bottom of pg. 4).
