THE NEW-YORK TIMES, New York City, New York, June 15, 1870

* Cincinnati Red (reds) Stockings end winning streak
* 84 game win streak ends
* Brooklyn Atlantics

Contains a page 2 headlines regarding the defeat of the Cincinnati Red Stockings by the Brooklyn Atlantics, ending the phenomenal 84-game winning streak by the Red Stockings dating to the previous year. Has a fine summary of the game, mentioning in part that there were 20,000 spectators "...in and around the Capitoline Grounds..." to watch this exciting game.

Of particular interest is the observation at the end of the summary: "The only drawback was the miserable partisan character of the assemblage which was the most discreditable gathering we have seen on the Capitoline Grounds for many years." Includes the box score. Great to have this report in a newspaper from where the event occurred.

Other news of the day throughout this 8 page issue. Has archival mends to a few minor margin and spine tears, otherwise in very good condition.
