March 25, 1862

THE NEW YORK HERALD, New York, March 25, 1862.

* Elizabeth City, North Carolina
* Beaufort, North Carolina
* Winchester, Virginia

Is in nice condition (except for close cut at the spine) due to the use of cotton and rag paper during this very historic time in U.S. history. This issue is loaded with advertisements and Civil War reports throughout from the day it was first reported which includes the following FRONT PAGE Map: "WHAT GENERAL BURNSIDE HAS ACCOMPLISHED, Scene of Operations on the Coast of North Carolina, from Elizabeth City to Beaufort" Also another map on page three: "THE BATTLE IN THE VIRGINIA VALLEY." Headlines in this issue includes: "Operations On The Coast" "What The Navy Is Doing" "The Battle In The Virginia Valley" "The Rebels Driven Back To Strasburg" and much more. Also a uncommon theatre ad on the back page for: "Crowded Houses" which stars John Wilkes Booth. Nice to read about the Civil War as it was happening.
