THE DAILY PRESS, Asbury Park, New Jersey, the summer of 1888 An interesting 4 page newspaper from this once-famous vacation mecca on the New Jersey coast, containing various news of the day with an emphasis on tourism-related items. Included on the front page is a column headed: "Surf Echoes" which lists various tidbits on happenings at the shore that week, plus society notes, etc. Page 3 features some very nice illustrated advertiserments for the famous hotels of the day. There is a great wealth of other advertisements as well.
Complete in 4 pages, measures about 23 by 16 inches, in nice clean condition. Fortunately the newspaper is of very high quality and not the slightest bit fragile or browned--in great condition! Rarely do we find 19th century newspapers from the New Jersey coast. The image shown is a stock photo showing the look, condition, and year of the issue you will receive. Actual dates vary within 1888.
