Here is a collection of 46 issues of THE SALEM GAZETTE newspaper from Massachusetts with dates ranging from January 13 thru December 29, 1849. This is a "typical" newspaper of the day with a wide range of current news, both local & national, as well as a large number of advertisements, several of which are illustrated. A full folio-size newspaper with 4 pages, all issues are complete with no cut-outs, however each issue is disfigured by being close-trimmed on one or two of the margins causing some shaving of text in some outer columns. Some browning as well but the disfigurements beyond the close-trimming are minimal. Most of the issues are stand-alone but some are still bound together as when taken from a bound volume. An interesting collection from the middle of the 19th century.
