THE SALEM GAZETTE, Massachusetts, April 3, 1798. Page 2 contains: "A Proclamation" by the president of the United States for "...a day of solemn humiliation, fasting and prayer...that all religious congregations...acknowledge before God the manifold sins & transgressions with which we are justly chargeable as individuals & as a nation..." and more, and signed in type: John Adams (see photo). Complete in 4 pages, never bound nor trimmed, some light, scattered browning, generally quite nice.
