The Treaty of Ghent, ending the War of 1812... Very graphic report...
CONNECTICUT MIRROR, Hartford, Feb. 27, 1815 One of the better issues we have offered with the printing of the Treaty of Ghent, the treaty which ended the War of 1812, appearing in its entirety on the front page..
The top of the front page has: "Treaty Of Peace...Ratified
Treaty of Peace" with some detail. This is followed by a message from President Madison announcing the treaty, following which is: TREATY OF PEACE AND AMITY Between HIS BRITANNIC MAJESTY and THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA".
Included is the full text of the Treaty with all eleven articles, and the signatures in type of the principals who signed the document, and at its conclusion is the signature in type of the President: James Madison, and the Secretary of State: James Monroe.
A great issue, having this full report on the front page.
Inside has a nice, lengthy letter from a person in New Orleans with some details concerning the follow-up to the Battle of New Orleans. Also a lengthy editorial headed: "The Treaty".
Four pages, a small stain to a lower portion of the right margin causing no loss of readability, otherwise nice condition.
