The Cherry Valley Massacre...
Item # 713653
January 01, 1779
THE EDINBURGH ADVERTISER, Scotland, Jan. 1, 1779 Page 3 has a report from New York which notes: "...that Capt. Joseph Brant at the head of a strong party of Loyalists & Indians...attacked & defeated a numerous body of rebels near Cherry Valley in Tryon county & that he afterwards totally demolished that settlement...".
This was the Cherry Valley Massacre which has been called one of the most horrific frontier massacres of the Revolutionary War.
Page 4 is almost entirely taken up with reports from America concerning various resolves of Congress as they relate to England. Page 5 has some American news as well.
Eight pages, 8 1/2 by 11 inches, dirtiness to the front page, a bit close-shaved on the first leaf affects some letters on pages 1 & 2.
