March 17, 1875
THE SAN DIEGO UNION, California, March 17, 1875

* Tiburcio Vásquez - California bandido
* Bloody Benders - serial killers
* Rare Old West title

An early newspaper from this now quite famous & large city in Southern California. The entire front page is taken up with ads. Inside has:  "Growth of the West" and an interesting article: "Vasquez" "How the Outlaw Views His Fate". This latter article is on the infamous outlaw Tiburcio Vasquez who would be executed in San Jose, Calif. on March 19th.
Also, page 3 has a lengthy article: "BENDER" "The Old Man's Story" "His Identity Established Beyond Doubt" "Confession of Old John Bender, the Head of the Family of Cherry Vale (Kansas) Murders". This is a fascinating article on the leader of the "Bloody Benders".
Four pages, minor margin wear, bit of foxing, mostly good.
