* Very early mention of Abraham Lincoln
* Early Mormon & Joseph Smith mention
An inside page has a report headed "Illinois" being an account of activities in the state legislature, with an inconspicuous--yet very significant--listing of "Lincoln" in the "negative" column of those who voted on a specific resolution. This is a very early mention of Abraham Lincoln from when he was just 28 years old and very far from the national celebrity he would become in another 20+ years.
This is one of the very earliest mentions of him in a newspaper we have yet been able to discover. A significant addition to any collection of Abraham Lincoln memorabilia.
Also of interest is an early mention of Mormon leader Joseph Smith concerning counterfeit bank notes with mention that: "...were not authorised by law. Joe Smith, Jr., the Mormonite leader, figures on these bills...".
Complete in 16 pages, 8 1/2 by 12 inches, minor foxing, nice condition.
