THE PORT FOLIO, Philadelphia, May 23, 1801 Edited by Joseph Dennie under the pseudonym "Oliver Oldschool" and Asbury Dickins, it espoused republican values and was the first important political & literary journal in the United States.
Inside articles include: "GENERAL [Alexander] HAMILTON'S ADDRESS TO THE ELECTORS OF THE STATE OF NEW YORK", "PEOPLE OF COLOR", and "EPISTOLARY", the last which is a printing of a letter penned by Dr. [Benjamin] Franklin. Another rather interesting article is found on page 164 (the issues were paginated consecutively throughout each year), being: "REASONS FOR RETAINING THE LETTER K, IN THE ALPHABET, ADDRESSED TO MR. WOODFALL, AN INGENIOUS PRINTER."
The issue is in very nice condition, is complete in 8 pages, & measures 10 1/2 by 12 3/4 inches.
