February 02, 1793
THE LONDON CHRONICLE, England, Feb. 2, 1793  The front page includes an: "Extract of a Letter...from Major Grose, the Deputy Governor of New South Wales, dated Sydney, April 2, 1792" in which he begins by extolling the greatest of the area, despite what he had previously heard. He notes: "I landed with my family at this place the 14th of February...I find there is neither the scarcity that was represented to me, nor the barren sands I was taught to imagine...the whole place is a garden on which fruit and vegetables of every description grow in the greatest luxuriance...The climate, though very hot, is not unwholesome..." and more (see).
Page 6 has a nice account headed: "Guillotine" prefaced with: "The following is a description of the fatal machine by which the late King of France suffered..." and what follows is a detailed description of the machine (see).
Eight pages, a small bit of rubbing on page one & a full red tax stamp on page 2. Generally in very nice condition.
