THE LONDON CHRONICLE, Nov. 13, 1794  The back page has a report concerning the boxing match between famed Jewish boxer Daniel Mendoza and Will Ward, reading: "Yesterday, at half past one o'clock, Ward and Mendoza met, according to agreement, on Baxley Heath, Kent, where a stage of twenty feet square was erected for the purpose, on which, after a severe contest of fifteen minutes, victory was declared in favour of the Israelite. The battle was for a hundred guineas a side. Joe Ward seconded his namesake, and Harry Lee the Jew. A second battle was fought between Hooper the tinman, and Solly, a Jew, which was decided in favour of the former in less than four minutes."
