July 23, 1789
THOMAS'S MASSACHUSETTS SPY OR THE WORCESTER GAZETTE, July 23, 1789

* First Fleet arrives
* Botany Bay - Australia

Page 2 has an uncommonly lengthy and detailed letter concerning the arrival of the historic First Fleet at Botany Bay (Australia). See the hyperlink for further details on the First Fleet.
The article is titled: "Of Botany Bay" and begins by talking of their visit to the Cape of Good Hope in November, 1787 and continues with their: "...favourable passage to Botany Bay, where we arrived on the 19th of January, 1788. Here we expected to find a beautiful country...as well as to rest ourselves from our fatigues..." with much, much more (see for portions). A very significant report which takes the equivalent of half a page.
Page 3 also includes an address to the President by the Washington College President, with "The President's Answer" signed in type: George Washington. And the back page has two documents from Massachusetts signed in type by its governor: John Hancock.
Four pages, very nice condition.
