ARIS'S BIRMINGHAM GAZETTE, England, Sept. 27, 1779  Page 3 has most of a column taken up with a letter signed in type by: Geo Collier, datelined at Penobscot Bay concerning what is known as the "Penobscot Expedition" which proved disastrous to the Americans. It was America's worse naval disaster until Pearl Harbor (see). Included is the: "Return of the Killed, Wounded, & Missing..." and a: "List of the Rebel Fleet...Destroyed at Penobscot". The following two columns continue with reports concerning events at Penobscot. Also a: "Letter from Major-General Prevost to Lord G. Germain, dated Savannah, Aug. 4, 1779" concerning the Battle at Stono Ferry, followed by another detailed report of the same event (see).
Four pages, folio size, minor margin wear, generally good condition.
