NEW YORK SEMI-WEEKLY TRIBUNE, New York, August 26, 1848 On page 3, there is a lengthy report "Van Buren and the Buffalo Convention" which members of the convention had sent Mr. Van Buren a letter of concerns to be addressed. This includes Mr. Van Buren's lengthy response, over two columns in length. The topic of slavery was a major issue.
